Result Based Training
By You

We are a privately owned company with the main goal of offering cures for the common dog owners as well as other services for dog enthusiasts, such as Agility, Tracking and other sport related training. Our trainers' experience allows us to evaluate and work with any dog in any situation. We offer breed selection help for new dog owners as well. Depending on temperament and owner lifestyle, we custom tailor training regimes to best fit the owners' needs. Our motto is to create obedience through REFLEX for dog and owner alike in the shortest amount of time.

You can’t be a great dog trainer if you only follow one or two techniques. You can be good, but never great. You need to use everything in your tool box of knowledge to work with every dog. This is what Reflex Dog Training aims to do with our clients.

What’s the difference between handling and training?

Handling is more like the mechanics and training is what builds on that. How do you handle that dog and work with it? It’s how you get from point A to point B. Handling is that gut feeling — predicting what the dog will do, knowing the dog is about to do something, be it chase, play or anything. Dogs read body language way better than we do, but we have been interacting with canines for thousands of years so it’s ingrained in us.

I come from the idea that humans have been doing this stuff forever so most everyone has an instinct for it and I can help take it further. The most rewarding part for me now is working directly with pet owners to ensure they understand what I’m doing and why, so they can keep it up. I can train them to be a trainer of their own dog.

At my mentor’s facility we would work with a dog for 10, 20, 30, 60 days and then bring it back to the owner but they would always come back for what I call tune-ups. We shaped all the behaviors ourselves. So for pet dog owners, I always felt they were getting the equivalent of a new car without any knowledge of how to drive it, let alone care for it.

Who is RDT (Dan)?

Dan Dudley, ABCPDT, has been training dogs professionally for over 17 years in a variety of locales from Portland, OR, Los Angeles, CA and now Massachusetts and the greater Boston area. Basing Reflex Dog Training (RDT) in New England was his true goal

Dan has worked for major pet store chains, independently and under an ex-Russian military (KGB Boarder Patrol) dog trainer at facilities in the San Fernando Valley of California. He has experience in a multitude of obedience training methods, including positive reinforcement, curtailing unwanted behaviors, marker training etc., As well as Sport, work and hobbies such as protection, Schutzhund, French Ring, tracking, service and companion dogs for the disabled and PTSD clients. He is also versed in Agility techniques used for building confidence and relieving stress in dogs and owners alike.

I find that we’re not lacking trainers, but usable knowledge. There are so many sources (Youtube, books, your neighbor) that most people just jump from trainer to trainer trying to find one that will fix their dog. Once in a while you’ll find a great one who can fix the issues you have or get the training you think you need only to end up coming back over and over.” Start with Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced”, No, those terms used are all about getting traffic and sales. Training your dog is one lesson: The one you start with!

I want to bring every bit of knowledge and experience I have and put it on the table so that clients can understand it, practice it and execute it in a way that has them achieving the results they need. It’s the only way it sticks and the best feeling to see actual progress.
